The Western Grains Research Foundation (WGRF) congratulates the Province of Saskatchewan on the establishment of the Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission and the Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission. WGRF is supportive of the establishment of provincial wheat and barley commissions in western Canada.
“Ongoing investment in research and market development is needed for wheat and barley producers to stay competitive,” said Dave Sefton of Broadview Saskatchewan and WGRF Board Chair. “Producer’s will benefit from the increased leadership and coordination being established at the provincial levels. WGRF looks forward to collaborating with the new wheat and barley commissions and councils to continue wheat and barley variety development research in the best interest of farmers.”
WGRF is committed to continued collaboration on agricultural research funding at both the federal and provincial levels to leverage public, private producer and private industry investments into crop research to increase the industry’s competitiveness.
