Total WGRF Funding: $142,700
Co-Funders: None
Start Date: 1998
Project Length: 3 Years
Objectives:

To determine the impact of Fusarium Head Blight and ultimately minimize its negative effects on wheat production in Manitoba by: assessing the importance, and geographical limits of the disease, determining the causal Fusarium species, evaluating the effect of infection on yield and quality, developing protocols for effective inoculation and screening in both laboratory and field, evaluating resistance in promising lines, elucidating cultivar/Fusarium interactions, identifying the mycotoxins involved, transferring resistance to adapted germplasm, and initiating a resistance breeding program.
