Start Date: 2002
Project Length: 3 Years
Objectives:

To improve the chickpea canopy through a combination of canopy architecture and plant population density. The project is aimed to determine three missing pieces of information including: i) which leaf type, fern or unifoliate, is superior for both biomass accumulation and reducing disease spread throughout the growing season, ii) which plant habit (bushy, prostrate, or erect) is best for biomass accumulation and yield efficiency, iii) which plant population densities, in combination with leaf type and canopy habit, are most suited for two production zones on the prairies.
